I gather remote recording is coming via a major update sometime this year. The main difference is that Now TV is fully integrated into BT YouView packages while TalkTalk YouView customers pay a set amount of 4 per month and add Now TV memberships on separately. When I click on the BT Sport channels I get a message inviting me to take out (subscribe to) Infinity. Obviously, it’ll be YouView based rather than Freeview Play, unless they’re developing a whole new UI. All the set-up went fine and everything seems to be working with one exception. I’m thinking it’s a BT branded version of the Humax FVP 5000T with an app similar to Humax Live ( hopefully better) and the ability to watch BT TV on a tablet or phone ( rather like Sky’s fluid viewing experience ). The Sports, Kids and Extra subscription channels will be moved up from the. Which is a pity, because the only 4K material is via YouTube or the BBC iPlayer, if and when the BBC decide to make 4K content available.ĤK on the Manhattan does look really good. Hi Previously watched BT Sport over Sky, today replaced Sky with BT TV Youview +. BT will move subscription channels like Sky Sports around on both the YouView and Vision programme guides next month. The BT TV Box Z4 lets you pause and rewind live TV for up to 30 minutes, but doesnt let you. The only thing missing on the T3R is remote recording, and apps such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video etc., really because it’s listed as being 4K capable, but there are no, nor will there ever likely to be, 4K channels on Freeview Play. Will you get a YouView or Sky Q Does it hold 1TB or 2TB. Yep, the Manhattan T3R is a fantastic box for the money, and if at some point you decide you want the streaming apps you could always go for one of the streaming sticks such as the a Roku streaming stick+ or Amazon Fire 4K stick. If there's anyone else out there pondering on getting one of these Manhattan T3-R boxes don't waste any more time, go and get it you won't regret it. It's like Youview mk3 or in other words it's what Youview should have been had it been developed a bit more. OK so I've not had long with it yet but I already absolutely love it. Is it a suitable replacement for Youview - it most definitely is. we will be closing our first generation TV service in the first quarter of 2014/15," BT said.Well I've finally decided to take the plunge and get a Manhattan T3-R. "We launched a smaller, sleeker and more power efficient version of the YouView set top box. Sky Q comes with voice control and its Sky Q minis work as wifi hotspots as well as TV boxes. with a premium pay-TV company such as Sky, Virgin Media, BT, etc. Our verdict: Sky Sky Q and its optional army of Sky Q minis beat BT’s YouView box hands down. Check out programmes for all channels on Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media, and Freesat. I’d have to assume that BT Sport 4K would then be made available on Sky. If Sky Sports 4K HDR is made available to BT TV customers at no extra cost to those who currently have the right package/add on that would be a great bonus. Upgrades go ahead.īT's upgrades this month show that the provider is still committed to YouView, even with the Sky factor, however.īT announced their intention to bring all their customers on to YouView in their most recent end of year results. My understanding (which could be wrong because BT’s info is terrible) is that the BT Sports channels will be transmitted using the encrypted DTT space that Sky Sports currently takes up, which is. Sky offers up to four Sky Q mini boxes whereas BT only offers one Extra Box. BT TV customers have 3 options ( Big Sport, VIP or taking Sky Sports as an add on). "Sky's refusal to offer access to on reasonable terms causes serious harm to consumers and must be resolved urgently," BT said earlier this year. After fast growth and despite a price hike, the provider has have about five million BT Sport subscribers and 60% of those also take BT broadband. Sports channels are increasingly important for BT. Meanwhile, YouView from TalkTalk is available for a flat monthly fee and comes with up to two non-recordable set-top boxes. Until a deal is agreed, BT's YouView dream will be kept in check: BT customers taking Sky Sports have to take a Vision+ box, a significant disincentive for new customers, as well as plain confusing. YouView from BT includes a main 1TB recordable set-top box with the option of adding a mini box for multiroom YouView.
